Specialty Item Movers in Atlanta
Some things can't just go on a dolly — heavy safes, fine art, big mirrors, flat-screen TVs and furniture too large for the stairs. Compass Liberty Express plans each specialty item on its own, with the right equipment and a crew that knows how to handle it.
Gun safes and heavy safes
Safes are heavy, top-heavy and hard on floors and stairs. Before we quote, we ask for the make, model, listed weight and dimensions, plus photos of the path at both addresses — doorways, steps, turns and the floor where it will sit.
- The safe must be completely empty. We do not transport firearms or ammunition.
- We protect floors and door frames along the route before the safe moves.
- Not every safe or route can be accepted; we'll tell you up front if yours can't.
Fine art, mirrors and flat-screen TVs
Paintings, framed prints, large mirrors and glass tabletops break easily and can't be replaced. Each one is wrapped in pads and carried upright, and for the most valuable or fragile pieces we can build a custom crate sized to the item.
Flat-screen TVs are taken off the wall and wrapped for the ride. If you still have the original box, set it aside for us. Tell us which items need crating when you book, along with photos and measurements, so the right materials come on the truck.
White-glove handling
White-glove means slowing down for the things that matter most to you. Our crew lays down floor runners and door jamb protectors, wraps every piece, and carries rather than drags.
At the new home, we unwrap specialty items, place them exactly where you want, and take the packing materials with us. Pads are free on every move; shrink wrap is available for an added cost.
Hoisting oversized items over balconies
Some sofas, sectionals and box springs simply won't fit up a narrow staircase or through an apartment door. When that happens, hoisting the piece over a balcony with ropes is often the safest way in or out.
We'll need photos of the balcony, the railing and the ground below. A hoist is only done when the crew agrees it's safe for the item, the building and the people nearby.
Furniture disassembly and assembly
Bed frames, dining tables, desks, wardrobes and other large furniture often need to come apart to move safely. Our crew takes them apart, bags and labels the hardware, and puts everything back together at no extra charge.

A whole school's classroom materials and shelves, moved in one load
"I truly wanted to select all of the qualities that I valued about Compass Liberty Express: work quality, value, professionalism, punctuality, responsiveness. We were moving classroom materials and shelves from one school to another. It was a big job! They had a great system with the two men, one bringing items to the truck, one organizing the truck. They fit everything in one load! And were so kind and professional. Highly recommended!"

Specialty moving FAQ
- Can you move a gun safe?
- Yes. Send us the make, model, weight and dimensions, plus photos of the path at both addresses, and we'll quote it up front. The safe must be empty when we arrive — we do not transport firearms or ammunition.
- Do you crate artwork?
- Yes. For valuable or fragile paintings, mirrors and glass, we can build a custom crate sized to the piece. Send photos and measurements and tell us which items need crating so we can include it in your quote.
- Can you hoist furniture to a balcony?
- Often, yes. When a sofa, mattress or other large piece won't fit up the stairs or through the door, we can hoist it over a balcony with ropes and a trained crew. We'll look at photos of the balcony, railing and ground below first to confirm it's safe.
- Can you move just one item?
- Yes. Single-item moves are welcome — a safe, a piece of art, a TV or one large piece of furniture. Small jobs still use our regular crew rates, starting at $300 for 2 movers and a 16-ft truck for the first 2 hours. Fuel is included for the first 20 miles from your starting location, then $1 per additional mile.
