Atlanta Moving FAQ
Atlanta Moving Questions, Answered
Straight answers about prices, booking and moving around metro Atlanta — from the crew that does it every day.
- Do you serve all of metro Atlanta?
- Yes. We move homes and offices in Atlanta and every metro city within about 50 miles — including Marietta, Alpharetta, Decatur, Lawrenceville, McDonough, Fayetteville and more. See the full list on our service areas page.
- What are your hours?
- We work 7 days a week, 8 AM to 8 PM Eastern, including weekends.
- Can you move me today?
- Often, yes. Same-day moves are available when a crew is free, for a flat $50 rush fee on top of the normal rate. Call (404) 441-2714 to check.
- How do you handle Atlanta traffic?
- We schedule start times and routes around rush hour on I-75, I-85, I-285 and GA-400 when we can. Drive time is part of the hourly job, so a smart start time saves you money.
- What should I know about moving into an Atlanta apartment or high-rise?
- Reserve the freight elevator and loading dock with your building, ask whether a certificate of insurance is required, and confirm truck parking. Tell us these details when booking so we plan the crew and time correctly.
- Are you licensed?
- Yes. Compass Liberty Express is registered under U.S. DOT #2988642.
- Do you need a deposit or a long contract?
- A $35 deposit reserves your crew and your date — it's non-refundable. There's no long contract: the balance is paid after the move is complete, in cash or card. Full terms are on our policies page.
- What are your additional fees?
- The few fees that exist are flat and published: $25 per additional stop, $50 for a 3rd floor or above (stairs, while 1st and 2nd floors are included free), and $25 for a building's insurance certificate if it wasn't already discussed when booking. There are no fuel surcharges and no insurance fees — fuel is included for the first 20 miles from your starting location, then $1 per additional mile. Every fee is quoted up-front before we do the work.
- What's your cancellation policy?
- The $35 deposit is non-refundable because it reserves your crew and your date. If your plans change, call us as early as you can and we'll reschedule your move — no penalty beyond the deposit. See the policies page for full terms.
- How much does a move cost?
- Our standard crew is 2 movers with a 16-ft truck, all equipment and pads included — $300 base price covers the first 2 hours, then $120 for each additional hour. The instant estimate above gives you an honest starting number for your move size.
- What's included in the hourly rate?
- The crew, the truck, and fuel for the first 20 miles from your starting location ($1 per additional mile after that), plus all moving equipment — hand trucks, dollies, straps, furniture pads, and blankets — and floor runners. Furniture disassembly and reassembly are included at no additional charge. Shrink wrap and mattress covers are the only supplies that cost extra, and both are available on move day.
- Are there hidden fees?
- No. There's no separate insurance fee, and fuel is included for the first 20 miles from your starting location, and each additional mile is $1. The only costs that come from changes to the job itself are flat, published fees: $25 per additional stop, $50 for a 3rd floor or above (stairs), and $25 for a building's insurance certificate if it's needed and wasn't discussed when booking. Anything you add yourself — shrink wrap, mattress covers, specialty items — is quoted up-front before we lift a single box. What we quote is what you pay.
- Are your movers employees or day labor?
- Our crews are background-checked, and trained on our equipment — not day-labor pulled together the morning of your move.
- How far in advance should I book?
- For month-end and summer weekends, book 2–3 weeks out. Mid-week and mid-month dates are often available with just a few days' notice.
- Do you charge extra for stairs?
- Nothing for 1st or 2nd floors — stairs there are simply part of the job and cost you nothing. A 3rd floor or above adds a flat $50, and extra stops are $25 each. We'll walk through every detail with you on move day so there are no surprises on your invoice.
- Do you move pianos?
- Yes — uprights, spinets, consoles, and baby grands. Uprights start at $300 and baby grands at $400, with steps at $5 each (uprights) or $10 each (baby grands) inside or outside — and your move includes the first 20 miles, then $1 per additional mile. Every piano move is quoted up-front before we roll out.
- Do you offer junk removal?
- Yes. We load and haul away furniture, appliances, mattresses, yard debris, and full-property cleanouts. Pricing depends on volume — send photos through the quote form and we'll give you a number before we roll out.
